New Puppy

New puppy?
At Tamar Vets, we are always delighted to meet new additions to the family. If you’ve recently welcomed a new puppy into your home, we can’t wait to meet them! We’re here to support you every step of the way, ensuring they get off to the best start in life.
What to expect on your first visit
You will have a consultation with one of our vets.
Your puppy will be weighed and then the vet will discuss a range of preventative healthcare topics including fleas, worms, insurance, microchipping, diet, behaviour, and neutering (and anything else you want to talk about!). The vet will then give your new canine companion a full top to tail health check up. Once the vet is satisfied that your pup is in good health, they will receive their first vaccination.
You will receive a puppy pack.
This is a really useful pack to have for any new owner. We have spent time keeping it up to date with the most useful product information leaflets for you. We have also included fact sheets about behaviour and training, a fun socialisation chart for all the family to get involved with plus a complimentary voucher for your new addition to try Royal Canin’s puppy diet.
What to expect on your second visit
Your pup will be re-weighed and checked before the vet administers their second vaccination. Our vet will also be available to answer any new questions that you may have for them.
We understand that welcoming a pup into your life can be a whole new experience, so we try to make your visits to the vets as helpful as possible.
Our puppy vaccination course starts with a first vaccination from 6-8 weeks of age, with the second vaccination 2-4 weeks later, normally at 10 weeks of age. Puppies are ready to explore the great outdoors 7 days after their 2nd vaccination.
